CHOBCH PRoPERT? TAX. Mr Rtevea moved th»t the Council oonour m the amendments of the House of Representatives m the Church Property Trna- (Canterbury) Bill. The motion was agreed to. NMV PLYMOUTH R* CREATION BBSSBV* BILL. Mr Scotland moved the. second reading of the New Plymouth Recreation and R-tctscourae Reserve Bill. The motion was agreed to, SHEEP ACT AMENDMENT BILL, Mr Staveaa moved the second reading of the Sheop Aot Amendment Bill. While pressing the motion be desired to state that m Committee he should bring (or* ward several amendments. The most Important clause m the BUI was that ojnferrlng power to destroy Infected flooks recouping the owners to the extent of on* halt of the value of the sheep dtitroyed. Mr Walker expressed a feeling of relief that Government Intended amending tha Bill m Committee, and described one of the clauses, as it stood, as being braUlly oppressive. Mr {Waterhoase suggested that the better plan would be to refer the Bill to a Seleot Committee for consideration. Me Stevens expressed his williagnoai to adopt tha sapgeetion. The BUI was r<*ad a second time, and referred to a Seleot Committee. MIDLAND BAILWAY CONTRACT; Tho report of the Committee relative- to the Midland Railway Con ti act, agreed to by the House, wan received, and ordered to be considered on Tuesday next. The Council, at 3 15 p.m., adjourned to Tueaday.
