ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING

Inyercakgill, November 21. After a hearing extending over several days, the Benoh of Justices at Wyndham have sent John Meikle, farmer, of Tuturau, and his son Arthur, for trial at the Supreme Court on a charge of stealing twenty-seven sheep from Isley Station, the animals being the property of the N.Z Loan and laveßtment Company. It was stated m evldenoe that a thousand sheep were missing. The elder Meikle alleged that the charge was trumped up to prevent him from going to Wellington to prosecute a oomplaint be has laid with tbe Government against the Magistrate, the police, counsel, and others, m connection with some previous charge.
