Inveboakoul, JS ovomber 21. Mr A. Tapper, timber merchant, some time back remonstiated with the Victorian Government on the unfairneps of placing a duty of 2a 6d per 100 ft on all New Zealand timber cxc pt kauri, and urged that no distinction should be made. He is now informed that red pine one inch and over (undressed) will bo admitted duty free into Victoria, Mr Tapper thinks this includes white pine, although the memo does not state bo, the Victorian authorities appearing to be somewhat hazy on the subject.
