At the annual mtetlßg of the Farmers' Association, the report stated that there has been a corresponding expansion of the business lv almost every department, and more especially m the export trade of wool and mutton, and m the Bale of produce m the colonial markets Daring the year ending 30th September, nearly 20,000 carcases of mutton were Bhlpped to Jjondon on owners' account, ao against About 4000 for the previous year, la deposing of the amount of £2605 17s 4d net profit for the part year, the Directors hare deolded, with tha approval of this meeting, to pay a dividend at the rate of S per cent per annum, to transfer to credit of shareholders m the capitalised bonus ftoconnt a sum equal to 5 per cent on the goods purchased during the year, they ftlso recommend the payment of a bonua to the members of the staff at 6 per cent On their respective salaries a»d that the balance of about £560 be carried to the reserve fund, The report adds— "The Directors have pleasure m stating that muoh practical benefit is likely to aocrue from the half-yearly conferences of delegates from the New Zealand Farmers' Association and our own, held In ChristChnroh and Timaru alternately, on such Blatter* as the arrangement of freights, the i°lnfc purchase of large lines of goods, the opening up of new markets for product mkl the disposal of surpluß stock.
