TERRIBLE SHIPPING DISASTER

A terrible shipping disaster occurred m the Channel last night, the Rotter* dam passenger steamer Scholtein having come into collision with another steamer the name of which at present. is unknown. The Scholtein sank immediately and upwards of aoc^ persons were drowned. Fifty who were saved were landed' at Dover. Laths, Further particulars of the disastrous collision m the channel states that the Scholtein was bound for New York, The total number of persons drowned is now given at 14a.
