AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.
Messrs B. Matson and Co. report upon the . live stock market for the Ashburton District for the week ending Nov. 15th, as follows : — On Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards we held our usual weekly sale of shesp, oattle, and pigs. There was a small entry of sheep, about 2500, nearly all ia wool, 57 head of catOe, and 3 pigs. The attendance was not very large, but the competition was good for heavy woolled well-grown wethers or mixed sexes, maiden ewes and wethers. In other classes, especially orosabred and merino ewes with lambs at foot, the demand was very weak. In fat sheep there was a fair entry, ] and were mostly sold at late rates. Catc c are Btill very dull of sale, but with the good feed now growing we look forward to better times. We sold fat crossbred ewes nnd wethers m the wool, 12a 6d ; merino ditto, 8a 9d ; we also offered a very good line of woolly oroßabreds, but not reaching owner's ideas were turned out unsold ; also 950 crossbred four-tooth ewes and wethers, which were sold at 8s 9d ; and two or three small lines at quotations. In fat oattle— Steers, jbs ss; heifers, £4 17s 6d to £5; Btores, two-yar-old, £2 15a to £3 10s. Pigs— orkers, 12s.
