It is supposed to have come from wild sheep m the bush. Coal. Tauranga, November 18. seam of ooal has been found at Tepnke and from present appearances it is likely to be workable. This ia the first ooal found m this district. Chamber of Commerce. Palmbkstok Worth, No ember 18. A Cnatnber of Oommeroe has been fotmed here. Beer Duty. Pascoe, a brewer, h*a been fined £30 for several breaches of the Beer Duty Act. Resistance. Wellington, November 18. The City Council has deolded to resist the foreshore oWims of Luke and Sons for £26.600, and T. G McCarthy for £6000. Fire. A fire broke out m the Wellington Club at 3.16 this morning. It originated m the woodwork at the back of the kitohen range and the fire ran up the walls towards the roof. The dffioalty of getting at the seat of the fUmes baffled the efforts of the brigade for nearly an hour, bat they managed to coDfine the outbreak to the southeastern corner of the building. There waß a large number of gueßte staying at the Club but no panic ensued. The damage to the building is roughly eßtimated at £1000, and the furniture £2000. The building was Insured for £7500 and the stock of wines and furniture for £2950, the rUks being held by the following offioes : — Snath British, Colonial. New Zealand, Sun, Victoria, Liverpool London and Ginb», Imperial and Royal.
