Thursday— Novfmbee 17. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. PETITIONS. , A number of petitions were presented. PAIRY TRODUCB EXPORT TRABE. A Select Committee ■ wj»a appointed to report on the best method of promoting the dairy produce export trade of the oolony. RBFOEM OF THE COUNCIL. The debate on Sir Frederick v7hitaker's motion relative to reform of the Council, was resumed, Sir Frederick Whitaker withdrew his motion m favor of an amendment by Mr Mantell— "That a Seleot Committee to consider the subject should be appointed by ballot." After considerable discussion Mr Mantoll's motion wa3 carried on a division — Ayes 20, Noes 17. The Council adjourned at 4.15 p.m. to next day.
