For about two hours the wind blew at eighty miles an hour. Neither lookout nor pilot could see beyond the ship's rail, beoauso of the solid sheets of rain and flying clouds of spray m whioh the ship seemod to be walled up as by a fog. The engines were run dead alow, and the ship lay>to bead to the gale. At the end of two hours tho gale broke, and pleasant weather soon followed. No damage was dono by either wind or eleotrioity. The steamship Glenartney, from Shanghai, was m the same storm, and had well-defined tufts of eleotrio fire on each masthead.
