♦ The Committee of tho Aehburton Branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society net on Monday evening m the restry of the Presbyterian Church. Present -Mr G Jameson (In the chair), lUva A. M. Beattie, D. MoNicoU, A Blake (Beereterj), D. E. Brown (TrtMorer), J. Flower (Depositary), A. Orr, and Isaao Bcou. Mr Beattie, having opened the meeting with prayer, the treasurer repotted having eeceWed irom collection and subscription it anneal meeting £5 10 » ; the dl«brmements for Bibles, etc , were £8 5b KM, leaving a balance of £2 10s 3d. The depositary reported that sinoe May 11 be had received m stock Bibles to the YaJne of £10 19* 10d, and had sold op to date to the extent cf £8 8a 3d. The Chairman and others expreaced their satisfaction with the amount of sales. Mr Beattle moved, and Mr KeWicoll seconded, a resolution, "that no Preiideot be appointed." The precedent of the Canter Miry Auxiliary was quoted, and the resolution carried. With reference to the appointment of lady collectors, it was resolved that the Yarlous ministers endeavor' to enlist the •crvicss of lady collectors by announcement from the pnlplt, and that a Bab Committee, consisting of Mr Beattie, the Treasurer and the Secretary, meet with the lady collectors and arrange the distriots at soon as possible, so that they night report remits before next annual meeting In March. It waa resolved nnanfmonely that Mr Williamson's name be added to tho CommltUe. It was also thought desirable, as Blr 'Williamson had for many years maintained a depot for Bibles, to secure his 00-operatioo with the Ashburton Branch. This being all the business, the meeting VH brought to a close.
