SUCIDE
TVnusGToN, November 6. Ifri Amelia Martin, wife of Mr J. Martin, landlord of the City Hotel, committed tololde lata last night or early tkis ncrnlng. For some time past Mrs Martin has given way to Intemperate habits and often threatened the would end her life by taking poison. At midnight Mrs Martin Informed her daughter, twelve yean ef age, that she had taken " Bough ob Beta." The child, however, took no notice of her, but at the same time notleed that the paroel of that particular polion had b#en removed from the shelf. Mr Maitfß, who occupied a separate room, epeke to her at one this morning, bat the latter said nothing of having taken poison. At seven this morning Mrs Martin was fotsd dead (n bed. On her dressing table tree • glass containing traoet of "Hough •a Bate," while the empty box which had •ontajntd the poison #as found in the drawer in her room. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr Martin, who formerly Uved in the HewsVs Bay district, and is veil known in sporting circles as formerly tWßtf of several racehorses.
