SUGGESTED DUTIES ON PRODUCE.
joblbourne, isovemoet 4 A deputation of the Farmers' Conference which waited on the Premier yesterday, asked that a duty of 25 per cent be imposed upon all stock imported into the colony, 3s duly upon imported barley, wheat, oats, peas, maize, jQi on potatoes, 4d per lb on butter, cheese and ham. Mr Gillies, m promising to lay the views of the Conference before his colleagues, added that the Government already promised to submit to Parliament next session a proposal for a revision of the existing tariff, by which the interests of farmers would receive serious consideration.
