Melbourne, October 31 The local manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company Limited, Nevr Zealand, reports on the Melbourne markets as follows :— Shipping wheat remains steady at 3s 4d to 3s sd per bushel. For malting barley, 5s to 5s gd per bushel is demanded, but holders are compelled ! to accept lower prices m order to effect sales. New Zealand oats, feed sorts, quiet at 2s 8d to 29 iod per bushel, while milling varieties meet with moderate enquiry at 2s iod to 29 ud per bushel. New Zealand oats, under bond, are quoted at 2s id to 2s sd per bushel. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cable message from London, dated October 28th, 1887 :— -Tallow—There is a good demand, and an advance of 66 per cwt since last report. The following private telegram was received m Chiistchurch yesterday : — 11 Wheat— Market is firm. The demand for off-coast cargoes of Adelaide wheat is improving. We can probably sell at 32s 3d per 4801b5."
