EATRAORDiNARY CLAIM BY A FIREMAN
Napier, October 27. An extraordinary olaim was made by I Sub-So pßrintendent Giiberd, of the Napier Fire Brigade, at a meeting of the Brigade to-night. Some ten years ago a teatn of .he . Brigade, of whioh Gilbord was a nierabet. won a valuable clock and bose reel, and the clock waa plaoed m the Brigade room where it has remained ever since. Tonight Giiberd asserted that he bought out the shares of the other competitors, and claimed the clock. He did not olaim the hose reel, whioh has seen, a good deal of work. A warm discussion < ensued, ending m the secretary being j Instructed to write to the donors of prfz.s . to know what their Intentions were m giving the prizes. It Was also decided, if Gilberd'a claim proved te be legal, to ask all members of the Brigade winning team prizes to acoopt a nominal sum for their share. Giiberd says he will take the clook away to morrow.
