i Wellington, October 27 There ia absolutely nothing stirring the la:-tt-;n cr three days having been a tiate of political stagnation. Humors have been plentiful, bui after living a few hours beve generel'y been contradicted. It is impossible to obtain anything authoritative. A rumor as to the Intention of tbe Government to propose further borrowing has been ia daily c rcu'ation since I firat mentioned it, but the " Times " this morning discredits it. It is generally expected, however, that the Government will propose a small loan this year. Another rumor io the effect that Government will on Friday make a statement; or proposal In reference to the Midland railway contract, is also denied, though certainly some statement on the subject must be made at an early date. Members are now returning m droveß after their holiday. The disputed eleotion cases, East Coaat Maori and Waitotara, are now the topic ofjgeneral conversation m the lobbies now, but no further information is obtainable than that supplied you through the ordinary channel.
