THE WRECK OF THE CHEVIOT.
Wellington, October 21« The following cable message hat been received by the Press Association from Melbourne giving the names of tha pasaeugers drowned m the wreok of the Oheviot at Melbourne Heads : —
Steerage passengers — Meidamei Baker, Clayton, Davis, and Peters, Miss O'Brien, Measrs Robert Jeffcy, Edmund Kelly, Lawrence Morris, Arthur Goodcliffe, W. Foster, 8. Hunt and O. J. J. Hunt, and J. Parland.
It is doubtfal whether the Hit li complete, and possibly there m»y be one or two others yet to add to it.
Dunedin, Ootober 21, The scanty news of the wreck of the Cheviot, near Queen&cliffe, has oaused many anxious enquiries, ai at lout three families have near relatives on board., One of the firemen believed to boon board, and whose parents live here, wai one of those fortunate enough to euape from tha crreok of the Tararua at Waipaba Point. His friends h»v« no intimatioa whether he haa been to fortunate on this occasion. 1
