Farther particular regarding the wreak of the Cheviot are to band. It appears the vessel lost her propeller when pasting through the Rip last night, and drifted on to the rooks, which she atrnok with great force. The crash broke her m two, all the passt-ngers and crew on the fore part of the vessel being drowned. Only the saloon paisengers, the captain, chief oook, third engineer, and two firemen were laved. (Received October 21, 12.30 p.m.) Melbodbnb, Ootober 21. Farther particulars of the wreck, of the S.S. Cheviot state that the captain behaved splendidly, and that the passengers and crew showed great coolness. Eight bodies have been recovered from the wreck, Latest accounts give the number of Bayed at twenty, whilst thirty-nine are said to be drowned.
