SIR HENRY PARKES IN DIFFICULTIES.
Bydnby, Ootober 12. Sir H. Parkes has assigned his estate to a Board of Trustees. The liabilities are estimated to amount to and are nearly covered by assets. It is believed the action of the Premier m assigning his estate will not affect his official position. Sydney, Ootober 13 A preliminary meeting of sympathisers with Sir Henry Parkes took place this evening. It was resolved — " That steps be at once taken to assist the Premier m his difficulties." Upwards of was subscribed m the room, and it was arranged that the Mayor should convene a public meeting to consider the best course to adopt. In the Legislative Assembly to-night Sir Henry Parkes made a statement of the position he now finds himself m, A lengthy debate ensued, and the matter is still under discussion.
