SEALSKINS.

Melbourne, October 12. The Victorian Government have received a communication from the New Zealand Marine Department, inquiring whether the schooner Awarua landed any sealskins from Auckland Islands, as the present was a close season for seal fishery. The Customs Department, replying, informed the New Zealand authorities that 176 skins appear on the Awarua's manifest, but no entry was passed for them. It is believed that the skins'were intended for shipments to London.
