A shocking case of destitution is reported from Gisborne. A poor man was found man old shanty nearly starved to death, and he was removed to the hospital. He had been out Of employment for a long time, and a local paper says that he had made several applica? tions for relief, but receiving naught but rebuffs and snubs, he became so disheartened that he gave up the hopeless struggle.
