Obituary. New Plymouth, October 8. The wife of Henry Scotland, MLO died this morning, age seventy yearß. An Unusual Case Wellington, October 8 Bather an unusual case occurred m th< civil list at the R.M. Court this morning Mrs Campbell, barmaid at the Foreßters Hotel, sued chief officer Lindsay, of the lonic, for £60, as medical expenses foi breaking her arm. . It appeared there had been a gathering at the hotel, with some dancing, and the accident occurred when the party were leaving. Plaintiff averred Lindßay twisted ber arm while shaking hands, causing her to fall and break hei arm, but defendant alleged Bhe bad ■wung round of her own account, suddenly let go, and fallen m consequence. The Magistrate gave judgment for £5 and costs. Denial. Sir B. Stout states he is not going to Melbourne as announced by some journal*. The Midland Rai way. Inquest. Chbistchproh, October 8 An Inquest was held at Sydenham this Doming on the. body of Jessie Halleday, two years old, who fell into a waterhole m the parents garden. Animation was restored, but tbe child died from the •hook and exhaustion. The verdict was "Accidental Death." The jury added a tlder that such holes should be enclosed ov covered. Alleged Arson. At the Police Court this morning, De Brun, stationer, charged witn arson, was remanded, bail being refused. The fire broke out m his shop on Wednesday night, but was extinguished before serious damage was done. De Brun states that he came from Norway last June and that he bought stock from Mrs Izatt for £200, giving promissory note due November 20. He expected money from Home by that time. He insured the place for £300 In the Viotoria office. De Brun further states he left a gold watoh and £7 m the shop, wblob, however, could not be found when the place was searched by the police.
