Auckland, October 6. Late news from Fiji states that the steamer Lubeok arrived at Tonga from Samoa on September 220 d, and reports the German squadron still at S*moa, numbering six vessels, two others having joined the original squadron, Malietoa surrendered himself to the German Commodore by request of the English and American residents to save bloodshed, which would otherwise have ensued. Tbe group Is placed order tho protectorate of Tamaaoae as notnical K:ng under the German Consul. A correspondent writing from Fiji say : — ''It is infeided to deport M»lletoa to Garmanv'a possessions m New Guinea. We m F ]'i are but too small and insignifioant a community to speak m the matter, bat the general feeling is one of indignation, a conviction that the English pr6stigo has been further lowered ia the ►South Pacific by thus allowing the German .Empire to practically annex thfi group. In German New Guinea Malietoa will learn what an intuit he offered the German Empire m pawing as the protege* of poor worn out tffete old England. Daring the hunt for Malietoa Germans landed and took possession of land belonging to Mr Moore, an American, and he struck one of the German soldiers m the face. This sailor was tried by court martini and sentenced to a term of Imprisonment because he had not bayonetted Moore. Thirteen German Bailors m the search for Malietoa lifted the aoreen of a bed where were five boys sleeping One ran away with fear, and was fired at, being wounded through the palm of the hand. The Admiral of the German fleet now at Samoa has received orders to leave for home on the 20th October, but it Is not. known whether the trouble now occupying his attention there will Interfere with this arrangement or not."
