BANQUET TO M.H.R'S.
Ohkistchukoh, October 5 A banquet was given m the Oddfellows Hall this evening to the newly. elected members of Parliament. W. Q. Spackman, President of the Electors Association, presided. About 200 were present, Including the following M.H.K'a :— Steward, Walker, O'Callagban, Feldwick, Jone?, Va'entlne, Perceval, Joyce, Blake, Buxtoo, Reeves (St. Alba^s), Rhodes, and Loughrey. Apolrgisa for non-at-t< ndance were received fn ni Sir J, Hall, Fish, Grlmmcnd, Seddon, Turnbull, McGregor, and Reeves (loßngshua.) Speeches were not strongly partisan m ; oharacter, tbe subjects most dwelt opon being the neceesity of unity among all parts nf the colony, and the geDeral welfare of the paODle cf New Zealand. Alter the banquet the members wuro driven m a drag to the railway station, whenca thoy left by train to catch the s b. Penguin for Wellington. A large crowd saw them off, and cheered them heartily.
