Three members of tho committee visited Paris to witness Pasteur's proceedings, and since their return Professor Horsley has carried out a series of control experiments, whioh, with the evidenoe previously carried, have convinced the committee of the value and effioaoy of M. Pasteur's syßtem. The Lords have had under consideration a bill whioh is intended to render compulsory the abatement of smoke m the metropolis by the burning of parafin refuse, petroleum, or anthracite fuel, m place of bituminous coals.
