Thompson, Peacock, batnuel, and Macch^nt, M.H.R.'s. Wellington, Octobsr 5. The meeting of the Opposition cannot be held to-day, and has been postponed til) to-morrow or Friday. Major Atkinson to-day is closeted with such raembor.B of the Opposition oa are here, but the proceedings are private. He \ will make a statement to the House to morrow, and ask for an adjournment till 7.30 on Tuesday. He Bfcates that the replies he baa received from various members o£ the party with whom ho has communicated are extremely satisfactory, and the Opposition fully approve of the course adopted of calling a meeting for oonßultation before anything definite iB dove,
