The Bank of England weekly returns show the total reserves m notes and bullion to be 1,900,00, a decrease of during the week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 44 per cent. The Bank rate of discount remains at 4 per cent; market rate 3^ per cent. Colonial breadstuff's and tallow are without quotable change. At the wool auctions to-day 10,300 bales were offered, making a toial of 218,000 submitted during the series. There was a far demand. The withdrawals to date amount to 28,000 bales. Two hundred and sixty bags of Queensland sugar have been sold at auction at 12s 6d per cwt, landed. Sydney, September .30 New Zealand wheat is 3s 3d to 35 4d; New Zealand oats, 2$ to 2s 3d j maize, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; potatoes, 45^ Adelaide, Sep f ember 30 Wheat is quiet at 3s 6d. Town flour is quoted at to ss; country brands -£8 5s to £8 ios. Freights on greasy wool are on scoured wool 3^d.
