THE ASHBURTON SEAT.
TO IHR EDITOR. • £ir, — In to-day 'a paper you devote a good deal of space to refreshing the electors' maraorles. Will you please allow me to follow suit by reminding the electors of Aahbarton, particularly the working men, that, wheti Mr Walker was asked if work could be found In ihia district for some of the ! Ohristchurch unemployed, he said yes, and a lot were put to vtpvk |n the Ooanty plantations, although many local men Wire badly off for want of a job (aye far worse than they would own). This waß the more cruel as the Ashburton Ooan'y has to pay a lot of money, to the Charitable Aid Board m Ohriutchuroh, so that besides paying the men out of county funds, we were helping to keep their families m Ghristchuroh, wbile we ourselves, m many cases, were short of the necessaries of life. — I am, etc., Hard Gkafi.
