Invercargill, September 19. Something novel m school matters cropped up tonight at a meetiDg of one lof the Town School Committees. The Charitable Aii Board have balk a home for aged peop'o and orphan children m close proximity to the Bohool, and to-day the master of the home took an orphan child to Bohool to be educated. Mr Webbe«", the head master, refased to admit the child, and to-night the matter W*s before the Oommi'tee. The teacher paid that to admit children from the Home woald have a tendency to reduce , the attendance, that It was probable the teachera would loavo, and would not take the B»ms intereat m the work if panper children were admitted. IVp members spoke a'ronaly againßt excluding children whose only fault was that they had no rela ives, and otherwise would have been quite eligible for any school. He also pointed out that the Education Act made no special provision for teachiag buoh children separately. The' Committee decided to uphold the master's action tiil next meeting, an amendment that the ohtld ba admitted to the school being negatived. The Home children wear no distinctive clothing, and many of them are children of respectable parents who are dtad.
