IRISH AFFAIRS.
Mrs MacNamara, one of the tenants evicted at Bodyke, has gone mad from suffering from a fright she experienced at the hand of O'Callaghan'e agents. Evictions were being continued with vigor on August the 12th en Mitchellstovm estate. Several shopkeepers m the town who had been put out made moat determined efforts to barricade their places of buaineas At Limerick seaaions on August 17 oh, three persona were sentenced under the Crimea Act, two of them to eix.monttß and one to four months' imprisonment for resisting the sheriff. "Unitsd Ireland "urges iaadloria to aooept Flome Rule as inevitable. A. riot ocouried at Kenmare, Couuty K«ry, on August 19oh. The mob attacked and atoned tha barrAoku, where
the police were, quartered. The polio* charged with drawn swords apon the rioters, injuring many of them, and ar« resting quite a number. A great, meeting to protest against the proclamation of the Land League was held ia Dublin oq the 23rd August, presided over by Professor Galbraith, a Pro testant. It was one of the largest demonstrations, nut excepting the famous D. O'CLniell Steele gathering at Oloatarf, ever held m Ireland. A delegation of English merabars of the House of Commons consisted of Me i.T.ob Bright (Manchester), Mr R. B. j Baldane (ffaddlngtjn), Mr J. E. ElUs ((Nottingham), Mr Ohas, Fenwiok (Northumberland), Mr Angus Sutherland (Sutherland.) This deputation is said to be only an earnest of what the Liberal English membars are prepared to do if the Coercion Aot is going to be worked with vigor. Members are going to Ireland later on to address meetings, to be present at evictions, and sit as lookers on In the courts where coercion magistrates ■ will exercise summary jurisdiction. At a meeting on the 23rd Irish memberr of Parliament advised the tenants to double their demands. The Loughrea and Armagh branohei of the National League met and resolved to continue the work notwithstanding the proclamation of the League.
