CORN EXCHANGE.
The following is the C° rn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, September 16th : — Farmers have had exceptionally fine weather for their spring sowing, and the work is now m a forward state. We anticipate that the holders will shortly be offering the balance of their grain that has been he'd over ; indeed, a few line* of wheat and oats have already found purchasers at fairly satisfactory figures. Freights are reasonable, but Lendon prices do. not leav© any margin for •hippenu Wheat. A few small hneß have been taken np for interprovincial orders at 3s 4d for Hunter's, and 3s 5d to 3s 6d for Pearl and Tuscan. Second quality has been sold at 3s 2d to 3s 3d, and broken chicken wheat is quiet at 2s 8d to 2s lOd ; whole at 3s to 3s Id. Oati. — This market has shown a little more life, but we are unable to report any rise, as the quantity offering still exceeds the demand. Several lines have been taken for shipment to Australia, and we •xpect the present quotations to be firmly maintained. Milling are worth Is lid to 2i ; h«ary short feed, Is lOd ; sparrow , blll«, It 9d to Is lOd ; Danish and Tartars, If 7d to It Bd, Ba*Lit — No malting samples are •Soring. For seed purposes a few choice lota command 4s 6d ta ss. Feed is offering at 2s 3d to 2s 4d. BfcAKB are m small compass, and to •xecute orders*3s 3d is given. Peas are doll and quotations are unaltered. G&ass Seed. — The demand etill continues limited. Buyers of decent parcels command their own tennß, and it is now generally admitted that large stocks wiil Have to be held over until autumn. Machine-dressed is easy at 3s 3d. Farmers parcels range from Is 9d to 2s 9d. Cocksfoot is moving off m small parcels at 4£d toiid. Potatoes are unquotable. Daisy Produce . — Very little is being transacted ; buyers cannot find a market, and holders are prepared to accept any reasonable offer both; for winter potted batter and cheese. Fresh made butter has a fair demand at Bd. The above quotations are those paid to farmers and delivered f.o.b. Lyttelton, tacks extra.
