J In the House of Commons to-day the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, replying to a question, stated that the British Consul at Samoa had been instructed to remain neutral m connection with the hostilities between Germany and King Maliete>a. Sir J. Fergusson added that Germany had declared that its action m those islands would not affect the treaty between England and Germany and America.
