MR PURNELL AND MR WALKER.

TO THE EDITOB. - , Sir, — May I bog tie favor of space for a few lines to point out, what appears to be, some misinformation which' has been placed m your hands, and which was embodied m yo.ttv leading ax tide of- lait evening. With yourself, I think It a pity that personalities of any kind should be indulged m at election or any other time, bat I cannot bat think that la this inatanoe "He who exousea htmielt accuses himself." As one of Mr'Pnrnell's warmest supporters (on broad ground* only). I oan state that I hare never heard Mr Walker spoken of by any ot them exoept m terms of reßpeot, both ai a man and a gentleman, bnt they most cettaialy do take the strongest objections to him as a politician, and I presume they way do this, In a free country, without bringing down upon themselves the violent tirade contained m jonr leader referred to above. There appears to be 1 some misunderstanding as to who the on--1 employed were that Mr Walker did bring down. Those I have heard mentioned, were the men employed In the Ooanty Plantations, and this, I think, we can prove if necessary. It was at any rate assented to by Mr Walker, In faot as County' Chairman he must hare dojne 10. I would also ask if " the organ "of the J Opposition m this part of the world f could be pointed out, as we were not awera that we had any help from the papers here, but very much the other way. — lam, etc, " : ■ ' OeposiTlOH. 9 _________________________ .
