A MAN BLOWN TO PIECES
A torrible aooldent (says the Lillydala . correspondent of the ''Melbourne Age," writing on the 11th lnafc.) was reported from Healesvilla this morning, Yesterday a man named Rtißaell, employed on the Watti River extension of the waterworks was working In a shaft some 60 feat in ' depth. Having put m a oharge for blast* ■■ ing, he gave the order to the man m oharge on the curf »cc to pull up. Aftef being hanled about 20 feet up the shaft he gave the order to lower. The whim was reversed, and the bucket lowered* the man m obarge shouting down the shaft to know If all was right. Ht received no answer, and suddenly the blast exploded. Another man then went down, and found Russell literally blown to pieces. The bucket, It seems, did not <• reach the bottom m descending, and It is Burmised that Russell either fell oat of the bucket, or he had not got Into it when he gave the order to pull up,
