When it was known the surveyors were going to wrrk on Maori land, a messenger was sent to the King, T<*whJao, asking what was to be done. . The King replied that he did not wißh the work to proceed, and warned the surveyors that they woaldgo on with it at their peril. Mr Oiißßen, uurveyor, waa then formally notified not to proceed, and has oinoo returned to Hamilton. ConBtablos Wild and Louther, who were Bent to render asaistanoo, have returned. j
