Some empty trollies that were left on the rails of the Mount Somerß Gorge Tramway, without checks, about two miles above the Kailway Station, «*ere propelled by the gale, and aeon gathering speed, came at a great rate down hill. Mr J. Brown, who was at the time proceeding upward with trol.ies laden with sleepers, had barely < time to unhitch his horses before the Inevitable smash came. And It was a smash ! All the trolließ are more or less heavily injured, the woodwork of one Is almost beyond repair, while Its wheels aud axles parted company altogether. It was the other day currently reported that an attempt had been made to burn down an empty houae belonging to Mr McOllmont. On enpuiry I learned that some rubbish mixed up with tar had been fonnd below the end of the houße. No fire Beems to have been started.
