EFFECTS OF PROHIBITION
The " Biblical Recorder," m speaking of the effects of prohibition m the towns of North Carolina where it has been voted, while oonfetsiog that drunkenness has not entirely disappeared m these townß thus testifies to what ia seen:— The bar-rooma have been dosed and converted into Bhoe factories, grooery store, and the like. And besides, the towns have received immense benefits m ttany ways. There are fewer drunken men ea tha streets. The Mayor has little or no work] to do m the way of sentencing erimlbjtlfi. Tha value of property has inere&Md. NaW houses have to be built for incoming residents. New Btores have to be built lor thoße who desire to oooupy. The people, as a whole, look better and oleaner, lor money is. spent for clothes by people who hitherto spent their money for whiskey on Saturday nights. -Country waggons now go out from the towns loaded with provisions that Died to go obt^Jßad with drunken men and jug* of whiskey. <>}
