THE TRANSIT OF VENUS.
Mr J. Stone, M.A., Radcliffe Observer at Oxford University, and who was appointed to organise plans for the transit of Venus m 1882, is combining the various observations made on that occasion with a view to their early publication. Mr Stone calculates the distance of the earth from the sun as 92,560,000 miles, wilh an uncertainty of a quarter of a million of miles.
