A MAGNANIMOUS OFFER.
Ib referenoe to Sir Jnlias Vogel's offer to place his resignation In the bands of the Premier, the "Evening Post" has the following comments: — "It will be Mtn from oar telegrams that as soon as Sir Julluo Yogel realised the faot that his pretenoe fn the Ministry might possibly •ndanger Its existence and the Premier* ■tat, b« offered to resign his own position. The offer wm eharaoterlstio of the man. Intense loyalty to all with whom he 1b ■nooltted faai always been a trait of Sir Julias Vogel's character, and those who ■ometlosei repreient him as a grteiy offioe-tfieker and B6lfißb,graßplng polttioUn greatly err m their estimate. That the preferred resignation was not acoepted is Oftditable to the Viemler tnd a matter of congratulation t&*the ooantry, for Sir Julias Yogel is undoubtedly the strong Sun of the combination, and without him the Ministry would be a muoh worse one than it Is. No doubt the Premier felt this when he refaaed to accept Sir Julius Vogel's generously offered self-sacrifice.'
