Captain Pearoe, of the steamer Durham, sighted a disabled steamer off the Kalptra Bkt &t noon to-day m tow of one of the steamers of the Northern Company. , The directors of the Moanatairl Gold* mining Company have received a cable message from London, containing an offer made by a London syndicate of £20,000 cash for Moanatairl. It is stated that the Directors have not atoepted the. offer, bnt authorised the agent to submit the pro* perty at a higher figure. A caveat has been lodged m the Supreme Court against the will of Bishop, recently thot at Sin Francisco, the ob« j motion being entered by Mrs Bishop. Me Napier moved to-day that probate be granted and the caveat be set aside. Tha motion wan adjourned till Friday. . Wkmingtow, August 16. The recent heavy rains have caused a couple of slips from the cbffi overhanging business places m Willis street. It la estimated that m two slips over 700 tona of rock and clay fell, but . the damage ia comparatively trifling. The weather hai not yet oleared.
