Melbourne, August 9, There has been an interruption of traffic on the railway, owing to the floods In the C-UJtry. No reports of damage to the permanent way have yet been received, though m some parts of tbe northern districts, where tracts of oountry are submerged, tbe approach to the stations is obstructed, thus Interfering with the movement of stock.

A question of professional etiquette has been raised by the Committee of the Medioal Society of Victoria, who have charged Drs Springthorpe aud Charles Ryan with issuing circulars of an advertising oharacter m connection with the election of the honorary staff to the Melboarne Hospital. The matter has been referred by the Committee to the Royal College of Phyßlcians and the Edinburgh University. A statue m bronso of the late Sir Redmond Barry has bean ereoted ln front of the Melbourne Public Library.

The Buffalo Electrio Light Company has entered into a eontraot with the Niagara Falls Hydraulic Tunnel and Power Oompany te take 10,000 horse power, at 15 dollars per hone power per annum, for lighting the oity and manufacturing purposes. The route for the proposed cable has been surveyed from Niagara Falls, a distance of twenty miles. Negotiations are also pending for lighting and supplying power to other towns m the vicinity.
