A LIVELY CANDIDATE.
Mr Sander (bßjb the " Taranakl Herald") met the electors of Oakura lately. There not being many electors present, Mr Sindar thought ho wou'd wait a little whil*, and bo obliged the company with two songs m tho meantime. The candidate was asked if he was m favor of free immigration for young girls, so that all the bachelors could got a wife. Mr Sander said he was not m favor of it, ss he sarf wbeo a dance wag got up there were plenty of young ladles, and some to spare. Mr Sander then commenced his address, and ljotwithotanding tbu Chairman's endeavor to retain order, he could not keep tho audience quiet, for those present were unable to understand tho speaker, Then a dog with a tin to his tail came running through the room, and a little water was thrown on the candidate to cool his oonrage. Mr Sander shut up his books and left the room, saying he had been m many places, but none so bad as Oak ar a, and if he knew the names of those present he would publish them Ihere were on'y a few present, who oatna for a lark, bat no harm was dene.
Mr Sander left instruction with one of his supporters to Interview some of his friends m town, who, after giving htm a vote of confidence, wou'd help to oollect the £10 to pay for his nomination. He Baid he did not think he would get m, after such a meeting as that at Oakura, but th-ught he would get votes rm usjh to save the £10 if he could raise it to gat. nominated. It was necessary to have the honorarium of £210 to keep him while studying politics. He said he livjd on £20 now, or less, but if he got returned he cou'd not do so then.
