ASHBURTO ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY
A meeting of the Ashburton Acclimatisation Society was held at the Union Bank yest^day afternoon. Prasen* — Mr W. C, Walker, President, m the chair, Messrs Cdap, Shurv, Mayo, Tasker, and Qiane, Seoretarv. An apjlogy was read from Mr 0 C. Fooka, who was unavoidably absent.
Af er some dircaa»ion as to whether hares wore still vermin In the county, or whether the proclamation making them so had bean repealed, the Chairman eaid they were still vermin. The special proolamation had not been repealed, and they can therefore be destroyed at any time.
It was moved by Mr Shu<y, that to facilitate visitors who had no license for fishing m the county, a visitor's license be issued for one month fit a nominal tee of ss. Seconded by Mr Mayo »nd carried. It waa resolved — That the cfficera of the Sooiety have power to endorse all licenses of any kindred Sooiety giving the holder power to fish m any wa*er m the county. A motion to issue youths' licenses, at a fee of 10s, was held over until the general meeting of members of the Society which will ba held on the Jast Friday of September.
Hangers were appointed and their names forwarded to the Colonial Seoretiry for confirmati<n. The meeting then ad jouroed, with avc t j of thanki to the oh air nan.
