TERRIBLE RAILWAY DISASTER

New Yoke. August 11. A terrible railway disaster is reported from Illinois. A train proceeding to Niagara, while passing over a bridge which was on fire fell through to the river below. Fully three hundred persons were killed and injured.

New Youk. Auguat 12, Further particulars of the railway disaster at Illinois, state that the train consisted of 2 engines and a large number of cars, which contained over a thousand passengers chiefly from town. The driver of the foremost engine approaching the bridge saw that it was m flames but was unable to stop the train m time to avert the catastrophe. The engines and carriages were completely wrecked. Over a hundred persons were killed outright and four hundred were injured.
