A CHILD ORACLE

There is living at Bridgeport, Connecticut, a little child oracle, at least the American papers Bay bo. Miss Mosalla Pront, a petite child nine years old, and possessed of rare beauty, has recently, , developed a mysterious method of penetrating futurity, into which she peers with a remarkable degreo of certainty, forotrlling events minutely and locating the time of occurroooe with astonishing correctness. * A singular freak conneoted wifh the chiid's prognostications is that she will mention nothing that foreshadows calamity, but upon all evanta that are productive of pleasure Bhe will Bpeak j freely. Recently a Mrs Smith aaked the iittle oraole whan she would hear from har husband, who is at Lob A.nge'e3 •' To-day, at noon " wbb the reply, "and the latter will contain a post-office order for 20 dole." At twelve o'clock the { oatman handed Mra. Smith the promised letter. Tuesday afternoon of the other week she told her mother to prepare places for hsr aunt and; uncle, who would arrive from Cornwall m time for supper. To humor the child the parent did as requested, and as the family gathered m the dining room the door-bell rang, and the Cornwall relatives, hungry and tired, were ushered into the house One Monday Mr Prout went troutlng, and little Mosella, m fancy, followed him'throughcut his entire jaunt over marsh, brook and meadow, exclaiming at Intervals with childish delight : " Oh, papa has caught another !" Finally, the child remarked that " papa was almost home and had eleven trout m hia baßket." Five minutes later Mr Prout arrlvei home with eleven splendid trout, and when informed of hit child's predictions declared with amszement that they wore all true.
