— - <♦ Odessa papers report that m the village of Qbodny, In the government of Fodolia, a peasant reputed to be very wealthy, and . to have money hoarded m his house, reoeired a visit lately from three vener able»looking men, dressed m garments of ft somewhat plerioal fashion, who informed him that they were Christ and the ■ Apottlss Peter and Paul. The sham j Christ said to him. ' I have' given you , great wealth, bat yoa have omitted to ererolse charity, so I have oome to reckon with yea. Give me yoar money.' The terrified peasant fell on his knees, begged for mercy, and handed over 500 silver roubles, declaring it waa all the money he had In the house. They were not satisfied, and he sent oil his servant to collect money from^neighbora who were indebted to him. The report of the presence m the village of snch holy visitors brought a crowd to the spot. Bat the impostors mistook their motives, and believed they bad oome to apprehend them. One of them drew a knife from unggr, his clothes apd attacked a peasant ; wnereupon the crowd seamed to have beporao at once enlightened as to the true character of the trio, and taking courage, overpowered them.
