A COMPLAINT.
TO THE EDITOR. £IR,--I am sorry to trouble you, but I would like to know through the columns of your very valuable paper why the children attending the Aehburton Public Bchool are allowed a half holiday on the race days. lam sure the Racing Chub ia not wanting the children at its meetings, and if it ia to allow tho eehoolmuator to go, surely he could bo spared from the school for a day occasionally. I think, sir, it is timo our School Committee put a stop to these half holidays for achool children on the event ol: every race meeting. If the Committee, or part of them, are rac ; ng men, it is no reason why our children are to be brought up to attend races and learn betting and gambling when they ought to be learning what we pny our schoolmaster for. Surely our schoolmaster is paid well for the few hours per day he attends to his duties, without having his hours shortened by half holidays. Sorry for troubling you for your valuable space I am, ole, One of the Many Complaining Parents.
