AUCKLAND, August 5. • J. Altken Connell addressed a large meeting at Newmarket last night and received a vote of tbanka by acclamation. He Btated thithe would not oppoaa Sir M. O'Rcrke for Manukau, but has not publioly Intimated that he will not oppose Mr Pyke for Dunatan, nor Sir G. Grey for Auckland Central. Mr E. Cooper, aol hi tor, has been requiaitioned to stand for Ponaonby. Makton, August 5. Mr Bryce addressed a crowded meeting at Turakina laßt night and received a unanimous vote of confidence. DUMEDIN, AugUßt 5. Mr Mackenzie met the electors of Clutha last night and received a unanimous vote of confidenca. He expressed himself m favor of eoncmy, redaction of members, a property tax, freetradwith a discriminating tariff, Bible m school and would go up as aa independent member bat to follow Sir R. Stout m preference to Major Atkinson.
