Melbourne, July 26. I In tho Legislative Assembly, during the discussion of the action of the St Kilda Beach of Magistrates m . sentencing two boys to three months' separate confinement and one to a week for stealing toys, Mr David Gaonson, member for the Soatb Melbourne, made, m a most irrelevant manner, a violent attack on Mr Justice Windeyer, of New Sooth Wales, who sentenced those guilty for the Mcunt Bonnie outrage. Mr Gaunson declared that a bigger Bcoundrel did not disgrace judicial Bench of any colony than Jadge Windeyer. A violent uproar ensued m m oonst quence of Mr Gaunaon'a remarks. Greater (significance was attached to tham frrm the fact that several members of the New booth Wales Parliament were present m the strangers' gallery. Mr Gaunaon'o conduct is generally condemned. The unemployed agitation, after lasting three days, entirely collapsed m consequet.ee of the abundance of work to be obtained at Watt's River aqueduct and the raliwiy quarries at Fo >tßorsy. A serious shipping disaster occurred at Port Phillip Heads on Saturday evening. The Gangi, an Austrian barquo, bound from London to Melbourne, ran en a reef at Point Lonsdale, near the spot where the ship George Roper was wrecked. The night was very dark, the wind bloving, and a equally eea running high. Tao vessel remained where she grounded, and there was no hope of getting her off. The captain of the* Gangi states that he was anxious to obtain a pilot, and made usual signals. No pilot however came, and he acted to the best of bis judgment. On the other hand, it is affirmed that the pilot schooner Mavis was m pursuit of tho borque for three hours. She signalled her, and sent a boat alongside her, but no rope was thrown. Shortly afterwards she struck. . The vea;el is likely to hecome * total wreck' Tho reacue of the crew of the Bhip was effected by the Queensdiffe lifeboat crew, under otrcumstatanoes* of considerable difficulty and danger. The •hip struck at eleven, and shortly afterwards the lifeboat was launobed and pulled towards the Gangi, but found it impossible to approaoh her at that time, an<i had to wait till daybreak. At day. | break two Hues were thrown from the ship, and made fast to the lifeboat, which got as near alongside as she could with safety. A ladder was then lowered from the bulwarks, and by this means a rescue was effected. The only passenger was the captain's wife. The vessel still remains m the same position, and no hopes ire entertained of getting her off. Sir William Clarke, as tho head of the Masonio fraternity, gave an entertainment m honor of the Queen's Jubilee at the Exhibition buildings. The entertainment took the form uf a cogoert. Fully 6000 persons were present, and the whole affair was a brilliant success. Perth, July 26. Mr Donald M'Ncil has left Derby for Melbourne, taking with him 14owt of stone from a rich reef recently discovered at Mo^nt Dockrell, m the Kimberloy district. The gold lies m large lamps m the stone, which Is of a crumbly nature and a dark slate oolor. The &tone Is estimated to produce £3000 worth of gold. Silver also shews m the stone.
