THE NEW TAY BRIDGE

A special train with the Marquis of Tweeddale, chairman of tho North British Railway Oompany, and the directors left North Queensferry on June 3, and arrived at Worj_.it, the south end of the new Tay j Bridge. The train was drawn by one of the two magnificent engines which formed one of the chief features among the mechanical exhibits at the Edinburgh Exhibition. Luncheon was served m Messrs Spi.rs and Pond's dining-hall. The Marquis of Tweeddale presided, and after luncheon proposed the healths of Mr W. Fi, Barlow, engineer and Mr William Arrol, contractor, i wbioh w.re duly ac knowledged Mr Robert Y^ung, Glasgow, proposed the health < f the chairman, .. hu;h wos brltfly acknowledged by tbe noble marquis — The directors afterwards were taken over to the Tay-brldge Station, and subsequently the party returned to Wormlt.
