THE ISSUE OF WRITS.
WbIiUNGTON, July 29. Tbe Oolonial Seoretary to-day sent the following telegram to Msjor Atkinson In reply to certain questions asked by tbat gentleman m regard to the issue of tbe writs :— "The writs cannot possibly issue earlier than 25th August, and it may be found ad vb able to add two or three days to that* The following are tbe dates — New districts came into force 15th July, the day of the dissolution, from which thirty days are allowed by Act for the completion of tbe rolls ; this brings ns to 15th August, add ten days for examination by the publio of rolls, correction of errors, and supplying omissions, thus raaching 25th. Polling can be fixed for ftbout the twenty fourth day after, or •boat 16th September. The rolls will •lose .for adding names oo the day of the ltiue of the writs, and tbe Registrars of Eleotora will then compile and print ■opplementary rolls."
